Ethics Statement - The Daily Egg

“Uh-oh.”

We run a tight ship here at the Egg, which means we don’t mess around when it comes to ethical journalism.

The ethics policy pretty much boils down to:

  • We don't accept paid endorsements

  • We don't write paid content

  • We don't give interview subjects questions for pre-approval, nor do we allow them to review the article before it's published

  • We don't accept preconditions for an interview that require us to publish certain things

ON THE RECORD

You should consider all interviews/conversations “on the record” with a Daily Egg reporter unless otherwise stated. As journalists, we love the tea and will quote YOU (yes, you!!) if you give us the good stuff. It’s kind of our thing.

However, we understand that sometimes you just wanna gab without consequences…

OFF THE RECORD

Speaking “off the record” is an agreement between you and your Egg reporter. Both of you have to agree, or it’s not off the record. If we agree, we won’t publish anything we hear from you unless otherwise sourced (aka someone else told us).

And just to be super clear: you gotta ask, and we gotta agree. Every single time.

FEEDBACK

If any of this feels wacky to you, let us know. The Daily Egg is committed to delivering entertaining and factually accurate journalism to our readers,* and we can’t do that unless they trust us. DM us on Instagram or the Substack app for any concerns you may have about our ethics policy.

*Except when we’re telling jokes.
